So you have spotted some of these badges plotted in some of ET's member houses, and now you think you would like some. Well the first thing to know is that you don't just get a badge for nothing; you have to work hard and
contribute something to the Elftown community.
Types of badges
There are several types of badges here on Elftown; Donor badges which you can obtain by donating art or poetry to Elftown, title badges which you gain when you 'work' for Elftown and then the 'Work' badges.
Donor Badges
You can obtain a donor badge by submitting some art work or poetry to Elftown. Do note that submission doesn't always grant you a badge, in some cases your submission has to be selected to be featured.
- Having a Poem featured on the
daily poem will earn you the 'robin' badge.
- Having your art featured on the
Featured Art will earn you the 'blue tit' badge.
- Being a
Featured Member will earn you an 'oriole' badge.
- Having one of your wikis featured on the
Featured Wiki will earn you a 'puffin' badge.
Taking part in an 'official' ET competition can earn you special occasion badges. For taking part you earn the green version. For winning you earn the coloured version.
If there is no special badge, this is the system used:
Entering one art contest grants you a green lionfish, photography contests grant you a ladybug, writing contests grant you a bookworm, and RP contests grant you a squid.
Entering two contests grants you a phase 1 lionfish, photography contests grant you a ladybug, writing contests grant you a bookworm, and RP contests grant you a squid.
Entering four contests grants you a phase 2 lionfish, photography contests grant you a ladybug, writing contests grant you a bookworm, and RP contests grant you a squid.
Entering six contests grants you a phase 3 lionfish, photography contests grant you a ladybug, writing contests grant you a bookworm, and RP contests grant you a squid.
Entering eight contests grants you a coloured lionfish, photography contests grant you a ladybug, writing contests grant you a bookworm, and RP contests grant you a squid.
Donating ten pieces or to ten contests grants you a green Master of Building.
Donating more than twelve pieces or to twelve contests grants you a coloured Master of Building.
Winning a contest grants you either a coloured lionfish, ladybug, bookworm, squid or a green/coloured Master of Building. That also depends on the badges you already have.
This shows you can become a Master of Building by being a committed contest participant. You can also become a master of Building by building things for Elftown.
Winning a contest grants you either a coloured squirrel or a green/coloured Master of Building. That also depends on the badges you already have.
For art that you donate to
linkmeet Graphics, you receive an ant-badge.
If you have donated more than a hundred (100) pieces of art to
Elftown Graphics you can earn a 'Centipede' badge instead of the ant-badge. The more pieces of art you donate, the higher badge you will get.
You can also donate money and earn yourself a special 'Squirrel' badge for
Donors of Funds.
The 'Work' Badges
You can gain a work badge by doing something constructive for Elftown. Such work includes translating ET Official pages and news items which will allow you to become one of the
Translators, inspecting ET's pages for bugs and errors which will allow you to become one of the
Inspectors, building, creating and maintaining the ET community wikis which will allow you to become one of the
Builders, or submitting your tutorials to
linkmeet Tutorials which will allow you to become one of the
Tutors
In most cases if your work is constructive it will be noticed and you will be rewarded with the appropriate badge.
linkmeet Title Badges
It is a lot harder to gain an Elftown Title badge, and in many cases you can only gain these badges by being 'appointed' to a position. Some of these badges include the 'elephant' badge for the Wiki bosses, the 'eagle' badge for guards and so on.
Some ranks, such as the
Guards, you cannot ask to join. But if you really want to become a
Council member, then you can write an application on
Apply to the Crew.
For extended explanations on each badge you can go to The Badge Reward SystemGo to The Hall of Fame to see all the Elftown titles.
